Today we are gonna take a look at Flachsmann World Traveler 2. I know that this watch looks like something that DW made, but wait a minute. This is more than that! So the company I think is based in Switzerland because they sent it from there. The company focuses on travelers, on a journey, because there is a world map displayed on the dial.
Be a World Traveler
“That journey of life is also what inspired the design of Flachsmann Watches. The label “World Traveler” stands for the way of life that lies within Flachsmann Watches. This is being reinforced by the unique clock face, which decorates the watch. It portrays the countless places that have so very much to offer, that are meant to be travelled, to be discovered, that we are trying to leave our trail on and, one or the other way, we all call our home”
So the watch came in this box. The box was nothing special, but what can you expect at this price point. But nevertheless, this is much nicer packaging than DW offers. Here you pay two times less and get much more quality and better materials, and overall better watch. You open the box and here is the watch. The watch comes with a strap removing tool, a nice touch, but I think not needed as the straps are easy to remove because of the spring bar mechanism that allows to remove them without any tools. So that was a weird thing to include here.
You take the watch in hands and you already feel the quality. It’s a bit heavy so immediately it feels good in hands. I personally think that the watch needs a little weight to it. To me it means quality. Of course, there are many light watches that are haute horology, but I’m talking about watches under 500$. The case is made from what I think 316L stainless steel. Diameter is 40mm and the thickness is only 6,35mm which is thin. I sometimes like thin watches as they are lighter and more easy to wear daily. This one is truly a daily watch that is also casual and elegant at the same time. On 3 o’clock you will find a signed crown. The case style actually is the same like DW I think, but the polishing is a bit better than DW has. Caseback is screw down with specifications and logo engraved. Lug size is 20mm so finding cool straps for this watch won’t be a problem.
The dial is what this watch is about. The dial is matte black with this world map displayed on it. I like how the dial looks. It has simple and elegant, applied polished hour markers. A very nice logo at 12 o’clock. This watch company has a very good logo, it doesn’t look cheap like the DW logo. The hour and minute hands are polished and very simple. The time reading is very easy, so again it proves that it’s a good daily. On top of the dial sits the sapphire crystal.
The movement inside is 762 Ronda, which is Swiss made movement. I didn’t know if the watch is Swiss Made because I couldn’t find where it was made. The movement is really reliable. It is a quartz workhorse. The strap is really nice. The leather is butter smooth and you can really feel the quality. The buckle is polished with Flachsmann logo engraved. They gave a couple of more straps, but I think I will review them in another blog post as they are very good and deserve a full review!
Overall the watch is great. It has Swiss made movement, sapphire glass, good strap. Ok, I know the case is the same as DW and that basically, this is a DW, but with better movement and sapphire glass and a little more creativity to the dial, but I like it! If you aren’t a watch nerd and you just want a good looking watch with some quality parts, get this one!
