Today we are taking a look at the minimalistic Norlite watch. A subtle watch, but with sapphire crystal, nice strap and Japan made Miyota quartz movement.
Now, in December 2016, we have added the NOR1601 women’s watch – a watch that follows the same design characteristics as the NOR1501 model.
The owners – having many years’ experience , across various brands, from the Danish as well as international wholesale and retail watch market – decided to embark on this project in order to create new and unique products at an affordable price; watches for women and men – watches that stand out from the crowd.
The watch came pretty fast. It came through the regular post in about 2-3 days. It came in this pretty simple box. The first impressions were pretty positive. What can you expect from simple time only watch? It’s hard to do it wrong.
The case is brushed with polished sides. I like how it looks. I prefer when the watch is brushed or brushed, but with polished accents. The case is made from stainless steel. Diameter is 40mm and case height is 7mm. The watch sits nicely on the wrist, the size is just perfect for everyday use. This watch I see something that a regular guy would buy, someone who need time teller on the wrist, but doesn’t want to spend a fortune. He need just a regular watch. Water resistance is 5ATM (50m). The crown is small but easy to grab. Crown is polished and signed.
The dial is easy to read. It’s just straight-forward, just like any design that comes from Denmark. The dial is in blue with applied hour markers in polished, silver colour. Hands are pretty simple to in this rectangular shape. On 12’o clock you will find the logo and at 6 o’clock there it says “sapphire”. I really don’t know why many companies write “sapphire” on the dial. Like it’s nothing special that you need to write. I would just leave it blank, but it’s just my personal preference. On top of the dial sits the sapphire crystal which is rare in this price range.
The movement is Miyota GL30(L). Never had this quartz movement, but as we all know all Japanese movements are pretty reliable. Most of them have survived since the 80s. So it is as long lasting as mechanical movement, of course of you take care of it. The strap the watch came with is pretty good too. The leather was buttery and smooth to the touch. And it wasn’t stiff as most of the straps I get with these kind of watches. It wrapped my wrist very comfortably. The buckle is simple with Norlite logo.
Overall the watch is really good for every day. Of course, this is a fashion brand in some way. But better in quality and looks than those Armani, Michael Kors, DW watches. If you like this and you don’t want anything flashy, then you should check this out!
