This brand I found on the internet by accident. I saw a wrist shot of one of their watches and started to search them. When I found them, I was surprised that they make good homage watches to Rolex. And also great original designs. And all watches use quality swiss quartz, mechanical and also Seiko automatic movements. No Chinese movements. And all watches are made in Italy.
The company has a long going history, they make watches from 1897, but only recently the brand got revived by the Massimilliano Ceccaci. Yes, he wears the family surname proudly!
Here is a brief history of the brand:
“CECCACCI was born as a watchmaking workshop and jewelry store in 1897 by the will of the Sir Giovanni Ceccacci, after returning from the African colonial wars where he had worked as a watchmaker for the Ethiopian Emperor Menelik II and his wife the Queen Taitù; actually even a few years earlier some works were done privately and commissioned by private citizens.
During the early 1900s CECCACCI achieved the installation of tower clocks, some of them still visible today in some cities of Italy, and the realization of pocket watches with its own brand.
Recently a new collection of mechanical watches, automatic and quartz watches with the brand CECCACCI was presented at the Expo 2015 in Milan, decreeing a remarkable success.
CECCACCI is one of the oldest watch and jewellery stores in Italy handed down for generations, with over a century of history and experience in the handcrafting of watches and jewels”
The first half of 20th century ancient mechanical pocket watch that they are restoring.
Old tower clock installed about in 1905 at the St. Maria Maggiore church in Ceprano (Italy).
So today we’re looking at Ceccacci Vintage II chronograph. When the watches came (exactly, they sent me two watches, the other one will get it’s review soon too) they were gift wrapped, very Italian. I think this is the best watch presentation so far. THE BEST! This means they care about every client, and they make sure they have the best presentation you can imagine. When I saw the boxes I was really surprised!
Opening the box, the first you see is Italian flag. The watch is wrapped in the Italian flag. You open the flag and you see the Vintage Chronograph II. First impressions were good. The case, dial, and overall presentation, everything screamed quality! Definitely the best unboxing of a watch I had. In the box, you get the watch, Italian flag, and certificate of authenticity. Usually, you get these kinds of papers for higher end watches so it’s nice to see these kinds of things in lower price watches.
So let’s start. The Vintage Chronograph II. It’s basically an homage to Rolex Daytona (Paul Newman). Maybe not directly, but definitely inspired by it. The case is looking good. The case is made from 316L stainless steel. The water resistance is 100m (10ATM).
The dial is looking good. I like this dial configuration. For the Rolex Daytona, it’s actually very rare. The black inner dial and creamy white subdials that give the watch a vintage vibe. Everything is very crisp and is very easy to read. The crystal is mineral, but it’s ok for this price point, of course, it would be better if it was sapphire. The bezel and bezel insert is stainless steel too. and you have standard tachymeter writings on it. Looks very vintage.
I went with the leather strap version. I know that all Daytona’s are usually on a bracelet, but I wanted something different. The strap is ok. It says “Verre Pelle” which means handmade, so the strap is made in Italy by hand. That’s nice to know. The strap is soft and wears comfortably, so no complaints there.
The movement is Quartz Ronda Swiss Made movement. I don’t know which particular movement this is, but I guess that it is caliber 5040. The movement is good and reliable. Ronda is making very good quartz movements and they work very well.
Overall it’s a great piece for the price. I even could say it’s a steal. Where else you can find Made in Italy watch, with Swiss movement for €219? I say grab it while you can! Because this is a brand with some history going back to 1900s. It cares about clients as you can see from the box, presentation, and the whole experience. You get only positive emotions by owning this brand and buying their watches.
