Neckmarine Vintage Chrono (Review)

Today we are gonna look at another relatively cheap watch. I was watching one of many “state of the collection” videos on youtube and saw that one guy had this Neckmarine Vintage Chrono watch, and he said that this was a really great watch. So I just needed to review one of them. I tried to find someone to borrow from one example, but no one had it. So I contacted the Neckmarine company and they were very kind to give me one piece 🙂

As far as I know, the company is called Neckmarine. All their watches as you can see from the companies name are marine inspired pieces, more tended to the diver look. The company is located in Spain/Madrid.

The watch came in gift wrap, so it was very kind of them to wrap the boxes in gift wrapping. That just really shows how they care about clients.

The watch came in this really nice zipper box. You open it and here sits the Vintage Chrono watch in al its glory. First impressions were positive. The watch feels very good and the finishing is really nice for the price. The mesh bracelet is really good. One of the best I’ve seen. The guilloche dial is another thing why I wanted to get this watch. I really like the spiral pattern.

The case is made from 316L stainless steel and has polished finishing. The diameter is 42mm, the thickness is 8mm and lug width is 20mm. On the right side of the case, you will find two pushed and crown. The crown is not a screw down, so the water resistance is only 30m (3ATM), but still, it’s plenty enough. The crown is in a ball shape and is easy to grab and change the time. The pushers feel very good, just like a mechanical chronograph. The case back is screw down. On the case back you will find written specifications and Neckmarine logo. The lugs look like pockets watch, and I like that look, gives them really that vintage watch feel.

The dial is where the watch shines the best. The white guilloche dial really pops and gives the watch much expensive feel. The dial is in white colour and has applied markings in dark blue colour. The dial has a line going from 9 – 3 o’clock. On the left side, you will find the Neckmarine logo and on the right date window. There are two subdials which are on 12 and 6 o’clock. They are rather big, but they look really good. The upper subdial tells minutes and the other one tells seconds. The hands are simple and in the same colour as the hour markers. On top of the dial sits a very thick domed crystal, I don’t know the material, but it looks like it’s sapphire, but I could be wrong on this one.

Movement is Japanese Epson YM-91 quartz, but a really good one. Because it has a sweeping seconds hand and a battery life of 5 years, yes, I said 5 years. The mesh bracelet is really good. It gives the watch a good look. The buckle is ok-ish too. This I could for sure call one of the best mesh bracelets in this price range. Because I have bought many of these bracelets from eBay for 10-60$ and they all been not such good as this one.

Overall I like the watch and this one definitely will be a keeper in my collection. If you don’t care about the movement and horological history, and you just like how it looks. then really consider this one! Because at 160€ it’s a steal!
